Jo Turnbull | Women in Search
Jo Turnbull is a SEO speaker of the best kind, having studied a BA Hons in International Management and Business Administration with French at the University of Reading. She started SEO and PPC early on in her career and moved agency side in 2009 to focus on search, and has since developed herself through training, attending conferences and running Search London since 2010, a meetup group for this in search. When the agency she joined went into administration in 2010, Jo migrated the major telecoms SEO client to MEC London where she then built up the first SEO London team. She has worked both agency-side and freelance in the UK and Australia. She went to New York and presented at SMX while living in Australia, quite a long way to go for one conference. Here she gave her first conference presentation.
While in Australia, Jo doubled the size of her SEO team and also secured sponsorship for a client more than 60% off the usual cost. This was the first time the client had sponsored such an event and it resulted in a 22% increase in conversions the week after the event took place. She was also responsible for setting up the first blogger outreach program with the client at the agency in Australia. This all took place within one year. A testament of her hard work and team spirit culminated when she was nominated as Magnificent Manager by her team at MEC London.
Building up her own business in Europe, working with small to medium sized businesses. Putting on Search London events and grown the membership to over 1,400. Speaking at five events in London including BritMums Live, a conference for passionate bloggers. Teaming up with OMN London to help organize Digital Summer Party where over 600 people attended. This was a completely independent event, relying on ticket sales and sponsorship. Events editing for State of Digital, helping arrange partnerships with events all over the world. She helped State of Digital create their first Ebook from SMX London in May.
